The Lady Warriors Tennis team hosted Martinsville for their non-conference match on Tuesday, April 4/23/19. Martinsville was 5-0 against Warren in previous matches. The Lady Warriors looked to change that today. Cloudy skies and cold winds came over Warren as Martinsville arrived.
Warren scored their 1st point when Tia Hague defeated her opponent 6-1, 6-4. Tia is currently 6-2 at 1st Singles. Madelyn Oconitrillo fell to her opponent 3-6, 3-6. She is currently at 4-4 at 2nd Singles. The 1st Doubles team of Ashley Jarels and Morgan Oconitrillo handed the Warriors their 2nd point, at 6-1, 6-2. They are currently at 2-2 on the season. 2nd Doubles fell 0-6, 6,7 (3-7). The match was even at 2 for Warren and 2 for Martinsville and the 3rd Singles would decide the match. Alexis Moment lost the 1st set 5-7, but fought off Martinsville and took the 2nd set 6-2. They headed into a 10 point tiebreaker and when it was 2-2, Alexis won the next 8 consecutive points to secure the Lady Warriors with the win. Alexis is currently at 6-1 at the 3rd Singles position.
The Lady Warriors travel to Bishop Chatard Wednesday, Lawrence North on Thursday, return home on 4-29-19 at 4:30 to battle Anderson Prep Academy, and Mt. Vernon on 5-1-19 at 4:30. Come out and see this very competitive team!
