Did You Know…
April 1, 2020 Census Day was the official count day, but self-responses are still being counted every day. Learn more at https://2020census.gov/
The census was first conducted in 1790 by the Constitution to count every person living in the United States. The census is taken every ten years and is used to distribute power at every level of government including our school board.
Over $675 billion in federal funding is distributed to communities across the nation. This money supports many programs: healthcare, transportation, housing and education.
Census completion is easy. Your household will have the option of responding online, by phone, or by mail. These options are easier than having a Census worker come to your door, which is what does happen if you don’t participate in one of the previously mentioned ways.
Census data is confidential for 72 years. Responses cannot and will not be shared with anyone, including immigration, law enforcement, tax agencies or even the President of the United States.
Everyone living in the United States on Census Day is counted, regardless of citizen status. Whoever you are, wherever you are from – YOU count.
